Just a comment about who John Piper is because I wouldn't want some of your readers to have a wrong idea of his qualifications in the area of finance or retirement.
He is well known as a Christian pastor, author, and speaker. So his viewpoints don't come from financial training, but from being immersed in what God has to say through the bible.
So does this make him less of an authority regarding retirement. Perhaps in some ways, but he also brings a vital and inciteful perspective from what God has to say and how to not swallow hook, line, and sinker what our modern, wealthy American culture has to tell us about retirement. Our society's perspective is not the only one, and in many ways is probably not the wisest one.
